Fly on the Wall / SS 25

FOTW is a seasonal look at happenings in and around the studio through photos and reflective musings.

Spring is a time of growth and rebirth. This is especially the case at Webb; our rebrand marking a new chapter. This time of year is always an extremely busy one for the studio, our work cycle pivots around events tightly crammed into these few months.

Salone, Interzum, ICFF, CDW, NC/DD, and 3 Days - all within weeks of each other. We’re unsure why they’re so tightly packaged, the weather helps of course (although that’s never a given here in London), but desensitisation through over saturation is obvious—as is the physical fatigue. It would be in the interest of all to coordinate this over a greater spread of time.

There are positive signs of change here with shifts toward staggered launches increasingly preferred - bringing plenty of advantages. For the first time in a while, we have launches spread across the next year, including two in Autumn and another at the start of 2026 (hopefully). All of which would have traditionally waited until a trade event…in spring.

This is a double edged sword however. Condensed events like trade shows allow for peaks and troughs, whilst swamped for a short period, there is a much needed slowing that follows. The proliferation of social media across all aspects of our lives has accelerated exposure at the expense of almost everything - especially our attention. Will this add fuel to the fire? More to see more often. Like social media generally, collective action is the trap, but also the solution.

If you’ve followed us, you’ll know we’ve been reluctant users of social media; this was by design. Conscious of potentially pernicious effects, we limit our exposure to ensure clarity, focus, and individuality. There is no denying however, as a tool for communication it is incredibly valuable – even with its snowballing commercialisation. It is the town square, the medium through which most share news and an increasing necessity for business. Our new strategy aims to balance greater presence with a healthy distance.

The last few months at the studio have been hectic - juggling the rebrand, partner visits, and finalising details for launch. Alongside this, we have a number of exciting projects in development which we can’t wait to share.

Our space has always been a dynamic jungle of activity, samples and prototypes spewed throughout. Historically we’ve never made an effort to document - focus always firmly on the work. Fly on the wall is our attempt to better document the daily details often forgotten in the rush of a working day.

Technician meets artist.
We've got a couple of drawing boards in the studio...both with amazing bases.
Work in progress.
A discontinued colour. We've always loved this orange.
